OWL – RPL Open Water Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ holders only)
The course will run from 9.00 am and will included the assessment on the day.
INFORMATION ABOUT THIS AWARD
The Open Water Lifeguard (OWL) qualification aims to keep the rapidly increasing number of open water swimmers in the UK safe. This is the one-day RPL OWL qualification for pool lifeguards who hold the RLSS UK National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ). You will develop the skills and knowledge to provide supervision and rescue cover for planned, organised and risk-assessed activities in open water (still non-tidal).
Candidates MUST hold a current RLSS UK National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ).
Be able to meet the following criteria:
Confident in open water
Able to swim at least 400 metres in a pool/ open water swimming continuously on their front and showing urgency
Able to submerge under the water confidently
Must complete minimum guided learning hours
Successfully complete the course assessment
WHAT TO BRING
Wet suit and shoes for open water.
Pen and paper
Lunch and drinks
